What is your opinion/Thoughts about the new technology in the series?

Totally new spin on the series! In fact, when I first heard that this was going "steampunk" and the like, I was kind of uncertain of what to think. And while, personally, I believe that the massive jump in technological advancement was a touch too much for 70 years, I'm a fan!

I actually had the same reaction. But as soon as they started show clips and scenes for it i was all for it. I also like how they added things in without taking away from the feel of Avatar.
You also have to remember the technology they had in ATLA. They were kinda ahead there also with the Tanks and the giant drill that was outside the walls of ba sing se. I'm sure with the help of the Mechanist from the norther air temple, him and sokka could take what they have and improve on it very fast.

Ahhh, this is true! Sokka always was a bit of a genius, haha. I wonder if he had anything to do with some of the newer technology!

Republic City looks like old Shanghai in the 1920-30s. The first few decades after the Opium War saw a great amount of Western influence in the area, and Republic City has that similar mix of East meets West. On the other hand, some parts of the city look even newer; there are some pretty tall buildings in the skyline shots.
I'm surprised even Air Temple Island has electricity, as seen by the White Lotus guards listening to the radio in Episode 2. Getting those power lines across the water isn't easy. Probably a goof by the writers.

That left me kind of confused myself. I sat and wonder about how they were getting their power. Maybe they have something like portable power generators. My other thought is that they might have power lines underground underneath the water, but like you said that is very tricky.

One complaint I've heard a bit is that technology has turned bending from a way of life in the original series to a mere fighting tool in LoK. It's like watching a firebender use a gas stove or an earthbender using a shovel.
I think Korra could use a little field trip away from the city to get in touch with this other side of bending.

Agreed! One thing is to see this magnificent city, but there's an entire world beyond those skyscrapers! I would love to see that next season!!
