I finally managed to watch the finale again (and regrettably, I am still not a fan), and I couldn't help but...feel relatively uncomfortable when Iroh II spoke. Here's this dashing twenty or thirty-something fellow by appearance...and out of his mouth comes Dante Basco's lingering pubescent voice. Not at all matching. I understand how Bryke wanted to give one of their closer associates from the last series a nostalgic role that particularly struck at the heartstrings of fans, but if you place yourself outside of the fandom, you're left with this unfitting youthful sounding heartthrob character that's reminiscent of a dog meowing.
Anyone else agree? Or is Dante exactly what is needed to portray Iroh II?

Dante delivered all of his lines with the necessary seriousness and authority of a general. I believe the problem may come from us having identified the sound of his voice with Zuko's in the first place.

His character didn't seem like much of a general either, except the flying part. Looked more like he inherited the position rather than earned it.

I mean, in a post-war world that's endured peace for who-knows-how-many years, what qualifies a young man of twenty or thirty to even be a general? Again, I see it as Bryke throwing the fandom a bone.

Dante is a lovely voice actor, but his voice IS young. We can recognize that he did the best job he could, but I think he was miscast. It happens.

He's rivetingly perfect as Zuko, and I couldn't think of a more ideal voice. But definitely, he was miscast for the sake of the fandom, and I personally thinks it downgrades this great character.
